Announcement: Six Parole Boards Selected to Receive Strategic Planning Assistance from the National Parole Resource Center (NPRC) in 2013

The National Parole Resource Center (NPRC), a project of the U.S. Department of Justice Programs, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), is pleased to announce the selection of six parole boards who will be the recipient of targeted strategic planning assistance in 2013.  Those boards are:  Arkansas, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania (who will participate during Phase I of the initiative- March-July, 2013) and Tennessee, Idaho, and Massachusetts (who will participate during Phase II of the initiative- August-December 2013). 

New Resource from ICAOS on Interstate Transfer

The Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision has developed an on–line training module for US state Parole Board and US state releasing authority members to facilitate their understanding of just how the interstate transfer and retaking process works. This module is specifically designed to address those issues that are most likely to directly affect the work of boards and other releasing authorities.

Now Available: Vignettes on the National Parole Resource Center Learning Sites

At the onset of the National Parole Resource Center, the project selected four states (Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota) through a competitive process to serve as “Learning Sites” for the project. These sites received ongoing technical assistance from the project team over approximately a two year period. This publication documents the assistance provided to each site and highlights the lessons learned and considerable accomplishments in all four of the participating states.

Now Available: Complete Series of Five Key Papers for Paroling Authorities and Supervision Agencies

NIC has commissioned the development of a series of five papers entitled Parole Essentials: Practical Guides for Parole Leaders. This series builds on the Comprehensive Framework and provides concrete guidance on implementing the principles that it outlines. The series is composed of an informative set of products focused on the unique challenges facing parole leaders; it will assist them in further honing their technical skills, clearly defining their roles and responsibilities, and supporting effective practice.
